His mission was twofold: to unravel the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke Island and to search for treasure rumored to have been hidden by the infamous pirate Blackbeard. During his first expedition, Professor Hacker made an extraordinary discovery—an old mining train constructed by the Confederate Army during the Civil War as part of their quest for gold to fund their war efforts.
